University College London - Investigating the superconducting properties of graphene
Edoardo Paluan also interned with the Department of Physics & Astronomy at University College London and the London Centre for Nanotechnology, contributing to research led by CMMP’s Prof. Chris Pickard and Dr. Chris Howard. The project, conducted in collaboration with Stanford University and the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, explored methods for inducing superconductivity in graphene—a single layer of carbon atoms with exceptional potential for future electronics. The findings were published in Nature Communications and represented a significant step toward realizing superconducting graphene-based technologies.
King's College London - Modelling the MoEDAL particle detector at CERN
As part of his early exploration into programming, Edoardo Paluan worked on a project simulating the conditions inside the MoEDAL particle detector at CERN. This marked his first foray into coding, during which he taught himself the fundamentals of Fortran and C++. Using these languages, he successfully developed simulations that replicated the internal environment of the detector, contributing to a better understanding of its behavior under experimental conditions. This experience laid the foundation for his continued interest in computational physics and software development.

Awarded to the five best second year students and the five best third year MSci students. The scholarship is awarded on academic merit.
2011 - RFK Journalism Prize
The panel discussion opened the 32nd edition of Premio Ischia Internazionale di Giornalismo, the journalism award organized by Fondazione Valentino. The Robert F. Kennedy Foundation of Europe and Premio Ischia have been partnering for the last two years on the Robert F. Kennedy Europe High School and University Journalism Award, which is awarded to a student from Italian high schools who participates in our “Speak Truth To Power” human rights education program or a school of journalism. Edoardo Simone Paluan from the Sir James Henderson School in Milan received the 2011 award for his article “The eyes of memory…The dust of shame.”
2014 - King’s Experience Awards
